The Land of Milk and Honey is home to a vibrant agricultural industry. When you visit Israel, you may want to take some time to see some of the scenic farms and the sophisticated techniques that innovative Israelis have used to make the desert bloom.
Upon arrival at Ben Gurion International Airport we will be met by a representative.
Enjoy a welcome ceremony including flowers and a refreshment table. We board our air-conditioned bus and proceed for breakfast. Drive along The Mediterranean Coast and visit a hydroponic and organic vegetable farm. On to Beit Lehem Haglilit where we visit a spice and herb farm. On the return trip to Tel Aviv we will stop at one of the boutique wineries of Israel. Overnight in Tel Aviv.
In the morning, we visit a kibbutz - an agricultural community where we see a nursery specializing in hydroponic products. Continue to Haifa where we enjoy the view from the top of Mount Carmel and see the Bahai Gardens. Visit the Church of Stella Maris dedicated to the Prophet Elijah. At the Druze villages, we enjoy the colorful market and hear about this unique sect. Overnight in Tiberias
After breakfast, we visit Nazareth, boyhood town of Jesus. Here we visit the Church of Annunciation, built over the cave where Mary received the word of God from the angel Gabriel. On to Cana, site of the first miracle where Jesus turned water into wine at the village wedding. Proceed with a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum, the “Town of Jesus”. Here we see the first century CE synagogue and the House of Peter. On to Tabgha, site of the Miracle of the Multiplication of Bread and Fish. Continue to The Mount of Beatitudes, site of the Sermon on The Mountain. Our last stop today is Yardenit, the baptismal site on the River Jordan. Overnight in Tel Aviv
In the morning, we visit Naan and its comprehensive irrigation and water control systems factory. Drive south across the Negev Desert to The Ramon Crater. We enjoy the magnificent and unique views. Visit a kibbutz where we see a sophisticated robotic dairy farm. Drive along The Arava Valley to the sun bathed resort city of Eilat. We enjoy the beaches and the atmosphere along the shores of The Red Sea. Overnight in Eilat
We drive north and visit a company that specializes in desert agriculture. Here we learn about growing plants in desert and semi-arid areas as well as in difficult climates and salt-water conditions. This place has extensive experience with many crops such as tomatoes, corn, potatoes, alfalfa and other vegetables. Continue to the Dead Sea, the lowest place on Earth where we will have the opportunity to swim in the sea and experience the unique feeling of floating on the water. Overnight in The Dead Sea area.
After breakfast, we will enjoy a professional tour of a desert farm including a date farm, winter crop fields and a dairy farm. Continue to Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found by a Bedouin shepherd boy. We see the ancient ruins and continue to see Jericho, believed to be the oldest city in the world. Ascend to Jerusalem, where upon arrival we participate in a special welcoming ceremony including the traditional “Sheheyanu” blessing. Overnight in Jerusalem.
In the morning, we enjoy the view from the top of Mount of Olives. Descend to The Valley of Kidron to visit The Church of All Nations and Gethsemane. On to Mount Zion to visit the Room of The Last Supper and the tomb of King David. Enter the old City via the Jewish Quarter and visit The Cardo, once the Roman street of commerce. See the Western Wall, the holiest place for Judaism and walk along the Via Dolorosa - The Way of The Cross. This brings us to The Church of The Holy Sepulcher, according to tradition the place where Jesus was crucified and is buried. In the afternoon, we drive to Bethlehem and visit The Church of Nativity, Milk Grotto and Shepherd’s Fields. Overnight in Jerusalem.
After breakfast, we drive to the modern city of Tel Aviv and see some of its impressive buildings. On to Jaffa where we see the House of Simon The Tanner and walk along the restored alleys of this ancient city. Transfer to the airport for our departure flight back home.
